Abstract:
This paper represents a nov el appro ach of determinatio n of azide ion ( N- 3 ) in the w astew ater by UV-spect ro photomet ric method. N- 3 w ith CS2 is reacted in KH2PO4— Na2HPO4 medium in which cety l py ridinium chloride ( CPC ) is taken as hyperchromic agent . A sensitive abso rpt ion peak at abo ut 321 nm is show n to reactant . The peak height is linear to N- 3 ion concent ration o ver a range of 0. 5 to 6. 0 mg / l. T he determinat io n limitat ion o f this novel appr oach is 0. 5 mg / l. T his analyt ical method has the advantages of simple, pr act ical and goo d interference-resistant . It is appl icable for the determinat io n of w astewater in manufacture plant of primary ex plosive.
