Abstract:
In study of the penet rat io n of a segmented rod w ith aluminum carrier tube into semi-inf inite steel targ et , w e present a simplif ied model of based o n hydrodynamics and penet rat ing mechanics. Not only the rigid penetr at ion but also the inf luences o f aluminum carr ier tube on penetr at ion are taken into acco unt . T his model can proper ly describe the w hole penet rating process of segmented rod and the ef fect s of the segment spacing , the st riking v elo city on the pow er of penet ration. The calculated r esult s show that the pow er o f penet rat ion of the segmented r od w ith carrier tube is o bv io usly higher than that of the corresponding cont inuous rod w ith carrier tube at v elo cit ies fr om 1 800 m/ s~2 000 km/ s.
