Abstract:
T etra-2-Ethylhex yl-Pyromellitat e w as prepared by the new rare-earth copmound solid acid SO 2- 4 / T i- La- O, pyromellitic anhydride and 2-ethylhex yl alcohol. Using of cat alys ts were invest igated. Ef fects of the react ion t ime and the rat io of react ants were s tudied. T he optimum condit ions of preparat ion have been obt ained: the amount of cat alyst is 3 % of the amount of pyromellitic anhydride, mixture of 1 mol pyromellit ic anhydride and 3. 5 mol 2-ethylhexanol was heated at 190 ℃ for 3 hours . T he product is det erminat ed by IR and NMR. Yield of product reaches 97%, acid value is less 0. 1 mg NaOHõg - 1 and ester value is more 99 %. T he est erification process has the advant ages of the good qualit y of the product s, high yield and simple proces s. It is of pracical use and further popularization.
