Abstract:
In the processing of low light level image, median filter can not only suppress the image snow nois e eff ect ively, but also protect the image edge and det ails bet ter. A new median filter method, named as superf as t median f ilt er, is studied in this paper. T his method is fast , simple and convenient, so it can be realized eas ily by hardware. T he design thought of this filter is calculating the two-dimensional f ilt ering mat rix by separat ing it int o one-dimension. T heoretical analysis and ex periment al results show that for a square n × n filtering window , the operational speed of this method is n t imes the speed of the general median filter, but the process ing results are the same. T his filtering method is very valuable f or hardware real-t ime processing.
