Abstract:
T he complex modal analysis is not appropriate for analyzing defective ordinary linear damping system. Based on the generalized modal analysis, problem of stat ionary random responses of defect ive systems subject to w hite noise and filtered w hite noise excitat ions is studied in this paper. Closed expressions of covariance funct ion matrices of system response under such ex citat ions are derived and include only complex algebraic operat ions, so computat ion of response is easy. Furthermore, the above expressions can be simplified to those of random responses of non-defective systems w hen the systems are non-defective. T he conclusions can be applied to analyze random responses of general linear t ime-invariant systems, including defective systems.
