Abstract:
The ef fect of predeformation degree on tension property of 8090 Al- Li alloy before aging is studied by using transmission and scanning electron microscopes and tensile machine. The result shows that Al- Li alloy has not only much higher strength but also much more plast icity w hen predeformat ion reaches 4 % ~ 5 % degree. TEM and SEM analysis shows the one reason that Al- Li alloy can get opt imum combinat ion of strength and plast icity by using proper predeformat ion is all the act ion coming from the def ferent st rengthening mechanism in and betw een alloy laminates w hen Al- Li alloy has been broken on st rat ify. The other is that predeformat ion may facilitate compound precipitat ion at δ′phases and S′ phases so that Al- Li alloy can gain more strength and plasticity in laminates.
