Abstract:
The main goal of modern nitrat ion chemist ry is to establish new methods for increasing reg ioselectivity of aromat ics nit rat ion in order to meet desirable environments. Para-selectivities in nitrations of toluene, ethylbenzene, n-propylbenzene and tert-butylbenzene w ere enhanced by using nit ric acid as nit rat ing ag ent in the presence of acidic bentonite catalyst. The ortho/ para rat ios in the compositions of nit roisomers w ere 0.60, 0.39, 0.42 and 0.11 respect ively and far below as compared w ith classic nit rat ion methodology.
