Abstract:
The robust opt imum design w as made for a structural desig n w ith uncertainties based on the experimental desig n method. The upper and low er 2 levels are used to represent v arying extension of uncertaint ies, and 3 levels are used to represent the upper, mean, and low er v alue in order to ut ilize the ex perimental design method. By chang ing the w eight ing factors in object ive funct ion, the robust desig n w as done in a broad sense and in a narrow sense by a t russ design problem w ith large uncertaint ies . The validity of the robust design in a broad sense was clarif ied through the reliability analysis by Monte Carlo simulation, but there is no effect iveness to the robust structural desig n in a narrow sense.
