Abstract:
T he rocket exhaust plume causes the effect s of noise, smoke, f lame and heat rad-i ation, env ironment pollut ion and signal at tenuation, etc. So it is important to study ex haust plume. An implicit TVD finite volume scheme w as used to compute the steady-state, compressible, three-dimensional flow f ield over the rocket at Mach 1. 0, 1. 5, 2. 0 f light condit ion w ith nozzle pressure ratio 1. 0, 2. 0, 3. 0. The pressure, density and Mach number were computed and compared for all the cases, noise was predicted using the acquired variation of pressure. T he second order scheme used by the paper has advantag es of high shock resolution, rapid and steady convergence, simulat ing complex shape and f low field, etc. The solutions clearly present the flow field phenomena, st ructure, and features. The sound pressure level changes acutely in shock intersection, and shocks out side nozzle and exhaust plume cause st rong noise.
