Abstract:
The characterization of limestone dissolut ion for wet flue gas desulfurizat ion w as invest igated in a laboratory batch apparatus using acid t it rat ion. Two limestones of dif ferent or-i g in w ere tested. A mathematical model, based on mass t ransport cont rolling, w as developed to describe limestone dissolut ion process. Model predictions w ere in good agreement w ith ex per-i mental data such as the degree of limestone conversion, and the effects of particle size distribut ion ( PSD) and pH value on limestone dissolut ion rate. Smaller particle size of limestone, low er pH value and Cl- bulk concentration are beneficial to the increase of limestone dissolut ion rate.
