Abstract:
T he ef fect of f luoride complex es on the performance of w et limestone flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) w as invest ig ated in a pilot-scale wetted-w all column. The experimental results showed that F - reacted w ith Al 3+ dissolved from the residual product of spray dry scrubber and limestone to form aluminum/ f luoride complexes ( AlFX ) , w hich w as absorbed on the surface of limestone part icles and ext remely inhibited their dissolut ion even w hen the concent rat ion of AlFX w as very low in the liquid phase. T he complexes led to the increase of residual CaCO3 in the g ypsum product , and decreased the part icle diameter of g ypsum crystal. T he neg at ive inf luence on WFGD w as increased w ith increasing the concent rat ion of F- and Al 3+ in the slurry. T he equilibrium model calculat ions showed that AlFX can be decomposed by cont ro-l ling the slurry pH above 5. 5, thereby prevent ing inhibit ion of limestone dissolut ion.
