Abstract:
The rigid frames of high-rise buildings subjected to vert ical loads are usually d-i vided into several sect ions. Each section is considered no lateral displacement and solved by the moment distribut ion method. In this paper the closed soult ions for a section of frame w ith 1 to 3 spans are obtained by summing up the dist ributed and carried over moment s infinitely. The total moment on the end of one member is the sum of an infinite series w ith the common ratio less than one, which is easy to be obtained and is the closed solut ion wanted. The closed solut ion is expressed by dist ribut ion factors and carried over factors.
