Abstract:
The common method of measuring a pow er system operat ing frequency is easily affected by the noise and harmonics. This paper describes a new technique for measuring the operat ing frequency of a pow er system. Using the digital signal processing technique and the a-l gorithm of the sliding data w indow , the technique provides correct and noise-f ree est imates for near-nominal, nominal, and of-f nominal f requencies in about 40Hz. The proposed technique can be economically implemented with the present ly technology av ailable. The desig n, algorithm, and implementat ion of a dig ital sig nal processing technique for measuring frequency are presented in the paper.
