Abstract:
The halog en exchange f luorinat ion of 2, 5- dichloronitrobenzen w ith potassium fluoride under microw ave radiation in dimethyl sulfox ide ( DMSO) and in the presence of a phase t ransfer catalyst w as discussed. After 1 hour react ion, the conversion of the reactant 2, 5 - dichloronit robenzen and the yield of the product 5- chloro- 2- fluoronitrobenzene are 97. 6 % and 54. 4 % respect ively. Without microw ave radiation, it takes 10 hours to achieve a sim-i lar conversion and yield. There ex ist s an obvious side reaction, the denit rofluorinat ion, along w ith the halogen ex change fluorinat ion under microw ave radiation. T he content of the by-product of denit rofluorinat ion can amount to 35. 1 % of all products under proper conditions. The results have been analy zed and discussed.
