Abstract:
In order to overcome some shortcomings and some limitations of Kass’ s Snake model ( conventional Snake model) , an improved Snake model and a two-phases Greedy optimization algo rithm are proposed. Compared with Kass’ s Snake model, the improvedmodel has the following advan tages: internal energy formulations being conceptually simple and rapidly convergent; not being so sen sit ive to original snake contour; convergence region being enlarged and convergence speed being devel oped. Results of edge detect ion for the artificial image as well as the cardiac MRI image show the eff i cacy of the improved Snake model.
