Abstract:
The calculat ion of shear st rain for simple plane shear deformation w as investigated. A new concept for large st rain —— true shear st rain —— w as proposed based on the definit ion of st rain at infinitesimal deformation. An equat ion for the calculation of t rue shear st rain w as derived from the integrat ion of inf initesimal shear st rain in plane shearing process w ith constant principal shear st rain direct ion. The equat ion w as used for the calculat ion of the equivalent t rue st rain for equal channel angular pressing, and the result is ex act ly the same as that obtained from directly analyzing the geometrical chang e of the specimen in the process, and corresponds to the experimental result.
