Abstract:
T he ef fect of different concent rat ion of acetate and different subst rate as organic carbon on biological phosphorus removal in the sequencing batch biofilm reactor w as studied. The relat ion of aerobic phosphate removal versus anaerobic phosphate release was analyzed. T he result s indicate that in order to achieve good and stable phosphorus removal over time, the length of the anaerobic period should be changed to achieve complete removal of easily biodegradable COD in the anaerobic period. The total COD- loading rate should be kept high enoug h to achieve a net g row th of biomass in the reactor. Aerobic phosphate removal versus anaerobic phosphate release has good relat iv ity. In order to enhance phosphorus removal the enough anaerobic phosphate release should be guaranteed.
