Abstract:
A novel algorithm of image quality assessment for st ill image is proposed. The mathemat ical model of the algorithm is founded according to that image distort ion mainly including loss of correlat ion, contrast distortion and loss of luminance. It performs better than w idely used mean square error and peak signal to no ise ratio. T he method w as applied in imag e compression for assessing the quality of decompression image. The results are w ell identical w ith the perceptual assessment of human beings.
