By means ofG ISmethod, the d ig ital e levationmodel ( DEM) w as established in Chankou V i-l lage o f D ingx i County in Gansu Prov ince. The runo ff direction, runoff accumu lation, sub-catchmen t boundaries and the spatial d istribution of stream netw orksw ere studied. B ased on the rasterized runo ff coefficient method ( RRCM) , the annual average runo ff and its spatia l distribution in Chankou V illagew ere simulated. The results ind icate that the spat ial distribution o f large stream netwo rks and the small w ater path can be simulated by DEM and the runo ff in each sub-catchm ent can be qu ickly calcu lated by RRCM. The spat ial distribution and the variation of runoff in each catchmentw ere sign if icantly in fluenced by d ifferent precipitation and its probability. It is important for the plann ing and managem ent o f the rainharvesting ag riculture in sem -i arid land of Ch ina.
