Abstract:
The pentahedra l bicharacteristic curve grid deve loped by Butler is used to num er ically simu late the unsteady and non-symmetric superson ic flow field in the divergence o f a rocket nozzle. The side fo rce of the conical nozzle as a funct ion of tim e is ca lculated through the flow integra.l Good agreem ent is proved betw een the results in the presen t paper and the data in a steady state. The pentahedra l b icharacteristic curve grid can be applied to investigate the thrustm isalignment characteristics in a unsteady flow.
