Abstract:
The temperature fields and the surface Rayleigh waves generated by a pulsed laser in a thick Al pipe are analysed by using a f inite element method. The difference of temperature fields from considering and neglecting the temperature-dependence of material parameters is compared, and the temperature distributions of Al pipe are obtained in angular orientation at various time. The numerical results show that the main features of the surface acoust ic waves obtained in the near fields after considering the temperature-dependence of material parameters are two kinds of waves― the surface skimming longitudinal wave and the Rayleigh wave,which is similar as those in a plate. It is useful in the applications in the laser-ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation of the hollow cylindrical systems.
