Abstract:
A monopole antenna covered by plasma with an insulator is analyzed by using the ( FD) 2TD method. Based on the field updated equations of general frequency-dependent media, equations for plasma are derived. A glass cylinder is used as an insulator so as to avoid short circuit in the case that the plasma frequency is greater than RF signal frequency. By introducing appropriate correct ions, the shift of resonant frequency for the monopole antenna caused by plasma is reduced. Effect of the covered plasma for different frequencies on the return loss of monopole antenna with or without the insulator is illustrated. Numerical results indicate that the higher the plasma frequency is, the stronger the effect of plasma on the waveform of reflected voltage and resonant frequency of monopole antenna is.
