Abstract:
A methane-air mixture explosion venting process is numerically investigated in terms of Euler equations coupled with the element chemical reactions. A splitting operator method was used to treat separately the hydrodynamic process and the chemical process in the explosion venting simulat ion. The TVD scheme was used to capture the shock wave and the Gear algorithm was used to solve the chemical reactions. The computational results show that there exists a rupture shock wave and a secondary explosion wave in the external flow field during venting.The value of the rupture shock wave declines gradually, and the value of the secondary explosion wave rises to the maximum and then declines.The computational results qualitatively agree with the experimental results.
