Abstract:
Considering thesituationsof convection, conductionandradiation, the transient tempera-ture andtransient thermal stressof acertain large-calibermachine-gunbarrel coveredwithchrome-plated layer subjected to single and successive thermal shock are calculatedusing finite element methodaccording to the therma-l elasticity theory. The distribution lawof temperature and thermal stressalong axial andradial directionisanalyzedandtheeffectsof thermal shockonbarrel intensity arealso evaluated. Thesecalculationresultsareverifiedby experimental data. The researchshows that: ( 1) thermal shockexhibitsthin-layer effect obviously; ( 2) theresponseof inner surface tem-peratureandVonMisesstresscausedby thermal shockpulses; ( 3) thermal stress inducedby ther-mal loadishigher thanthat causedbypressure.
