Abstract:
Afour-stage physical model which describes propulsion process of  the newly developed rarefaction wave gun( RAVEN) is put forward, and a dynamic model of the rare faction wave gun ( RAVEN) is made using quasi one-dimensional quasi two-phase flow theory. A14. 5mm rarefac-tionwave test gun is taken for numerical simulation and its performance is compared with that of a traditional close bree chgun. A rule of variation of RAVEN’s characteris ticparameters is worked ou.t It is found that the14. 5mmRAVEN has the potential of reducing 59%of the recoilmomen-tum without compromising them uzzlevelocity of the projectile.
