Abstract:
 Thematrix elem ents are calculated to represent the scattering characteristics of the sca-t tered radiation in the plane vertical to the incident polarized laser beam, and a new method using Muller-Stokes algorithm to study the characteristics of the radiation side-scattered by the multiple particles distributed random ly is introduced. By calculating the experimental data using this algo- rithm, the results show that the intensity of the scattered radiation is axially symmetric and that the variations of the characteristics of the scattered radiation and the m atrix elem ents representing the scattering characteristics depend primarily upon particle sizes. In addition, the fraction of the sca-t tering varies dramatically w ith particle diameters.
