The effect o f DO ( dissolved oxygen) , C /N ( carbon /nitrogen) , MLSS ( m ixed liquor suspended so lids) andHRT ( hydrau lic retention time) on the SND ( simultaneous nitrificat ion and den itrification) inMBR ( membrane b ioreactor) and the SND mechan ism in aerobic reactor is studied. The resu lts indicate that at the COD= 250 mg /L, C /N = 10~ 30B1, MLSS= 5 g /L, HRT = 5. 0 h and DO= 0. 6~ 0. 8mg /L, the removal rat io of to tal nitrogen reaches the c limax o f 86. 0%. The resu lts a lso show tha t since anaerobic area ex is,t the SND can be fu lf illed through contro lling the operating cond ition. A t the same t ime, the relationsh ip betw een the change o f the ammon ia, n itrate and n itric n itrogen concentrat ion and to tal n itrogen removal suggests that the ex istence of the shor-t cut den itrification phenomena p lays an important role in the SND process.
