The typical nonlinear characteristics of the pneumatic rotary actuator position servo system using proportional flow valves are experimentally studied.First,the influence of such operating parameters as the position of the operating points,the magnitude of the payloads and the initial pressures in the two chambers is studied.Some particular phenomena such as stick-slip oscillation,displacement fluctuation and "stagnation" are pointed out,and the causes of these phenomena are analyzed.The conclusions are drawn: the system behaviors are different in different positions within the stroke or with different initial pressures in the two chambers;the typical nonlinear phenomena such as stick-slip oscillation are mainly caused by the friction of the actuator and the slow dynamic process of the pressures in the two chambers.
