Abstract:
Natural supercavity shape characteristics of a high-speed projectile at zero angel of attack and small cavitation number are numberically simulated with Fluent software.Supercavitating flow at zero angel of attack around underwater high speed projectile is investigated by numerical simulation based on a two-dimensional solver and the numerical simulation results fit well with the results of the SCVA software.According to the model,simulation of the supercavitating flow at non-zero angle of attack is investigated with a three-dimensional solver.Supercavity contour of the projectile and cavitation thickness along the projectile superface are presented,and the influence of small angle of attack on cavity shape around underwater projectile are analyzed.Symmetry of cavitation contour of the projectile is changed at non-zero attack angle.This research offers theorical reference for the study of hydrodynamics and ballistic performance of underwater projectiles.
