Abstract:
The impact dynamics of a flexible beam in large overall motion is reported.A set of dynamic equations with the dynamic stiffening effects is established by utilizing the subsystem method.The approach of assumed modes is used to describe the deformation of the beam,and subsequently the partial differential dynamic equations are changed to the form of ordinary differential equations.To obtain dynamic equations with impact,the Hertzian contact theory and nonlinear damping theory are adopted to calculate the impact force.To validate the method presented here,the dynamic simulation of the hub-beam system involving impact with a horizontal rigid plane is given as an example.
