Abstract:
In view of the characteristics that the gun barrels should support high frequency,high temperature and high pressure when the rapid-fire guns shoot continuously,a model of thermo-structure coupling based on heat transfer theory and finite element method(FEM) is adopted here.Barrels with different wall thicknesses are selected to analyze the thermal capacity and thermal stress of the barrels.The variations of temperature and thermal stress with continuoucly shooting number and the thermal stress distribution rule in barrel are obtained.Considering the joint effect from the chamber pressure and temperature filed,the influence of the thermal stress on the barrel’s strength safety is also analyzed.The method and simulation result here provides a reference for the barrel design of small caliber rapid-fire gun.
