Abstract:
To make the muzzle velocity of 1 kg projectile shot by a conventional cannon be above 2 000 m/s,a shooting technology with two floating tandem chambers is proposed.The operational principle and the four different stages of the shooting technology are analysed.This paper gives the interior ballistics equations of the various stages,solves the changing laws of projectile’s moving and the in-bore pressure distribution by applying the technique,for example,the law of press-time and the law of velocity-time.Several major factors influencing the muzzle velocity of projectiles are analysed,concerning the powder variety and weight of first chamber and second chamber,the diaphragm rupture pressure of two floating tandem chambers and the projectile shot-start pressure.It is concluded that the maximal muzzle velocity of projectiles can reach 2 547 m/s when the second chamber has 1.2 kg 5/7 powder,the diaphragm rupture pressure of two floating tandem chambers is 100 MPa and the projectile shot-start pressure is 180 MPa.
