Abstract:
Melamine is one-step pyrolyzed in a semi-closed system. The structures and morphologies of the products are characterized by X-ray diffractomer(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),elements analysis(EA),Fourier transform infrared spectroscpy(FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The thermal stabilities and fluorescence propertities of the products are studied by thermogravimetry analysis(TG) and photoluminescence(PL).The XRD reveals that with the increase of the pyrolysis temperature, the products can be transformed from melem to graphitic structure. The analytical results of the FTIR and XPS show the product is mainly composed of carbonitrides with a large amount of sp2C-N double bond and sp3C-N single bond. The TEM image indicates the product has multi-layered structures. The above analytical results show that the graphite like C3N4 with the atomic ratio of 0.738 for C to N is obtained at 650 ℃.The onset decomposition temperature of the product is beyond 700 ℃ and the photoluminescence is observed at 460 nm with a broad full width at the half maximum. This work might provide a new route for large-scalely preparing graphite like C3N4.
