Abstract:
Perovskite-type BaCeO3 ( BCO) is investigated to study the effects of the glycine-nitrate combustion process on the particle size,and BaCeO3 nanopowders are prepared using glycine and metal nitrates as raw materials. The phasestructure,morphology and size of as-prepared samples are investigated by X-ray diffraction( XRD) ,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy( FTIR) ,Scanning electron microscopy( SEM) and Transmission electron microscopy( TEM) . The result shows that the pure orthorhombic BaCeO3 can be completely formed when the precursor is calcined at 900 ℃ for two hours. The molar ratio of glycine and metal nitrates( G/n molar ratios) has an important influence on the microstructure and morphology of the as-prepared powders. When the G/n molar ratios are 0. 5, the highest purity of samples can be obtained, the samples are composed of nearly spherical particles with sizes of about 50 nm.
