Abstract:
In order to study the interference mechanisms of rubber composite armors on shaped charge jets,stress wave transmission situations in multilayer media are analyzed when jets are penetrating “sandwichstyle” rubber composite armors,and the particle motion situations of the backplanes of rubber composite armors are studied.The interference effects of particle velocities of rubber composite armor backplanes on jets are analyzed by the KelvinHelmholtz instability.The inferences of different dip angles and thicknesses of sandwich rubbers are predicted.The deformations and the changes of residual penetration ability of jets are obtained by the Xray pulse experiments and the depth of penetration(DOP)experiments.The feasibility and correctness of using the stress wave theory and KelvinHelmholtz instability to analyze the interference mechanisms of rubber composite armors on shaped charge jets are proved.The experiments show that rubber composite armors have excellent protection capabilities and can be used as a new kind of armor.
