Abstract:
The scanning electron microscope(SEM)experiments are carried out to study the microstructure of the tillandsia usneoides(TU)leaves.The results show that,the sunflower shaped lodicules covering the TU leaves consist of disc cells,ring cells,and wing cells.The lodicules link to the mesophyll cells inside the leaves through the stalk cells and the epidermal cells.The rootless and soilless TU can be intwined linear to form the TU plant curtain with full lengths and densities.The TU plant curtain has the advantages of the general plant shading,and can be easily operated as the ordinary sunshades.The radiation surface of TU plant curtain increases with the TU leaves and the lodicules.An estimated model of the radiation surface of TU plant curtain is built.
