According to the load and the working characteristics of the precise balls crew pair under short-time overload,the theoretical calculation of the non-linear elastic-plastic contact deformation of the single-nut ball screw pair with overload is discussed by using the Hertz point contact theory and the elastic-plastic deformation theory.The finite element analysis model based on ABAQUS software is established considering the different force on balls in each circle.The theoretical calculation and the finite element analysis are made respectively for the contact stress and the elastic-plastic contact deformation of screw pairs.The results show that the contact plastic deformation is far less than the elastic deformation in the ball screw.By analyzing the real plastic deformation on the ball screw after bore over-load,the finite element analysis results verify the accuracy of the theoretical calculation.
