Abstract:
A novel approach to measure temperatures of multi-zone charges of propellants for guns is presented based on heat transfer composite parameters.By analyzing the heat transfer process between the propellant and its ambient,a correlation consist of heat transfer composite parameters for the prediction of propellant temperature under the variable circumstance is developed.The composite parameter of a zone charge is figured out and verified with experimental data.According to the relation between the propellant temperature and thermo physical properties of zone charges,the composite parameter of another zone charge is calculated and verified by the experimental data.The propellant temperature under the periodic ambient is calculated,and the temperature properties of different zone charges are compared.The results show that the method is simple and convenient for measuring temperatures of multi-zone charges.
